Allergen Policy

Last updated: 28 October 2026

At Sophie’s Kitchen Sussex, we take food allergies and intolerances seriously and will always do our best to accommodate individual requirements safely.

Please tell us in advance

If you or one of your guests has a food allergy or intolerance, please tell us when enquiring, booking or placing an order.

Please provide:

  • The guest’s name;
  • The allergen or ingredient concerned; and
  • Any other relevant information about their requirements.

Advance notice allows us to review the ingredients and preparation methods involved. We assess every allergen request individually and will tell you if we cannot accommodate it safely.

When attending an event or receiving your food, the affected guest should also identify themselves to a member of staff.

Our kitchen

Our food is prepared fresh in a shared kitchen where all 14 regulated allergens may be handled:

Celery, cereals containing gluten, crustaceans, eggs, fish, lupin, milk, molluscs, mustard, peanuts, sesame, soya, sulphur dioxide and sulphites, and tree nuts.

We take reasonable precautions when preparing food for customers with allergies, including checking ingredients, cleaning preparation areas and equipment, and taking steps to reduce cross-contact.

However, because allergens are handled in our kitchen and some equipment and preparation areas are shared, we cannot guarantee that any dish will be completely free from an allergen or traces of an allergen.

Changes to ingredients

Ingredients, products and suppliers may occasionally change. Please discuss your requirements with us each time you order or book, even if you have eaten our food previously.
